Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment announced that James Cameron’s phenomenal epic AVATAR became the best selling Blu-ray of all time after just four days in stores, with an astonishing 2.7 million units sold in North America alone. Retail sales of AVATAR Blu-ray and DVD Discs have exceeded 6.7 million units since its launch last Thursday, on pace to be the best selling title in recent history.

What can be said about this movie except that I am STUNNINGLY DISAPPOINTED I didn't get to see it in the 3-D. No, I did not expect the DVD to be in 3-D (and I have to admit that I chuckled everytime I saw that in print because I honestly never thought anyone honestly expectd a DVD to be in 3-D. I mean I guess I was wrong, but I still thought it was funny). I'm disappointed that I didn't get to the movie theater in time to see this on the big screen in 3-D. It was one of the most amazing and different movies I've ever seen.
I thought the quality of the movie was absolutely amazing, even though I didn't get to see it in 3-D (giggle). The picture and sound were both sharp and clear. Like looking through a window and sitting right next to the person speaking. We turned on the surround sound and the room was filled. It was awesome.
The movie is awesome and I generally don't go for fantasy movies. I loved this though!

I thoroughly enjoyed "Avatar" BECAUSE I saw it in IMAX 3D. My sisters and I gave the Blu-Ray disc to my Dad for his birthday, but I don't know if I'll watch it - I'm afraid I'll be disappointed it's not in 3D :)
Side note - yes, it was one of those movies that was FABULOUS in 3D; however, I don't know if it's worth the extra bucks (almost $20 for a ticket in the Philly suburbs!) OR the queasiness. A lot of people have issues with the way the 3D was presented: my sister had to leave her seat and watch standing from the doorway, the only way I could handle the movement was to constantly be chewing something (thank YOU pretzel bites) and we weren't the only ones who had issues. I don't know if I'll be seeing another movie in 3D again anytime soon.
