James and the Giant Peach!

In an all-new digitally restored special edition from Tim Burton, the acclaimed director of Alice In Wonderland, comes the astounding film that captured the hearts of fans and critics all across the world. Inspired by Roald Dahl’s beloved children’s book, Burton, Denise Di Novi and director Henry Selick combine a fascinating mix of live-action, stop-motion animation and computer-generated special effects to create a world beyond your imagination in this new Special Edition DVD.

After the daring rescue of a spider, a young boy named James finds gains possession of some magic crocodile tongues. When James spills them in the garden, out sprouts an enormous peach! Climbing inside, he meets an astonishing cast of characters and embarks on a magical odyssey full of thrills and adventure. Voiced by an all-star cast, including legendary actors Richard Dreyfuss, Susan Sarandon, Simon Callow and Jane Leeves, and featuring the celebrated music of Randy Newman, this classic story is delicious entertainment for the whole family!

Ronald Dahl is one of my favorite authors of all time and I'm so pleased that my children also love his books. Rarely do I enjoy a movie as much as I did a book, but this one was pretty awesome and stayed mostly true to the story (as I remember it anyway). Tim Burton was involved, so you know it has to be a little wacky.

There were some great bonus features on this movie:
• Spike the Aunts Interactive Game – New BD Exclusive! Inspired by the game that plays after the end movie credits, try your hand at spiking the evil aunts with the rhino and ring up major points!

• Production Featurette – A look at the making of the film.

• “Good News” Music Video performed by Randy Newman

• Still Frame Gallery

• Original Theatrical Trailer

I know I am a major nerd, but I always enjoy the "making of" parts of the bonus features. I love to see how movies are made!

This is for sure a family-friendly film, even though there are some dark moments (the kid is treated pretty horribly by his evil Aunts), but as it usually does with Disney movies, it all works out in time.

If you love Disney or Ronald Dahl, you'll love this movie!
